The Louisiana State Troopers Association has named Senator Jonathan Perry of Kaplan and Representative John F. "Andy" Anders of Clayton as its Legislators of the Year for 2012.

In making the announcement, Sgt. Frank Besson, President of the LSTA, stated, "During their legislative careers, both of these gentlemen have demonstrated their commitments to law enforcement, and especially to the State Police. Since his election as a State Representative, in 2008, Senator Perry has led the fight in strengthening DUI laws to protect the citizens of our state. He continued that fight after being elected to the State Senate and he did so again this year."

In speaking of Representative Anders, Besson remarked, "Representative Anders has long been a friend to State Police. He has consistently supported efforts to enhance law enforcement throughout his time in office. He demonstrated his commitment again this year by authoring three bills which will serve to protect and improve the work environment for our troopers. We are grateful to both of these fine men for their support."

The Louisiana State Troopers Association is a non-profit organization whose mission includes protecting and promoting the welfare and interests of active and retired troopers as well as seeking constant improvement in the quality of service rendered to the citizens of Louisiana. The LSTA annually recognizes legislators who have assisted in furthering that mission.
