Search of home leads to drug arrest

An Opelousas man is behind bars after police say they found nearly $2,000 worth of drugs in his home.

Police say they found the narcotics after executing a search warrant at Brian Jones's Planters Street home.

Investigators say they found 1.5 pounds of marijuana packaged for sale, promethazene syrup, and other drug paraphernalia. Officials also say they seized cash during the raid.

Jones allegedly fled the scene on foot, but police caught him a short time later about a mile away on Mia Street.

Jones is charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute.
