A family in Sunset is crying out for justice, three weeks after their brother's murder. Corneil Landry was killed on March 27, but law enforcement still haven't found the suspected murderer.
Not a day goes by that Carolyn Landry-Pugh doesn't think about her baby brother.
"He was hard working, a great father, a wonderful person. And for someone to do what they did, it's just senseless to me," said Landry-Pugh.
Her brother was in town for the weekend visiting family and friends when he was shot to death after an altercation.
"It's sad. And to know that people that did this are friends that grew up here in this little town, in Sunset, you know, it's hard," said Landry-Pugh.
Landry-Pugh said three men were trying to rob Landry the night of his murder, and that they were all friends. St. Landry Sheriff's Deputies have arrested two suspects, Scotty Davis and James Savoy. But the third, Kevin Sam, is still at large.
"I want him caught. If anyone knows his whereabouts, please call the police. You know turn him in, do the right thing," said Landry-Pugh.
The St. Landry Sheriff's Office also wants Kevin Sam behind bars. They're offering a reward of up to $1,000 for anybody who turns him in or has information on his whereabouts.
Landry-Pugh believes someone knows something, but no one will come forward.
"I think people know where he is and they're not saying. And to me that's just pitiful," she said.
Nothing can bring back their brother, but finding his killer would at least give the family some closure.
"Give us some peace of mind to know he's caught," said Landry-Pugh.
If you have any information on suspect Kevin Sam's whereabouts, you're asked to call St. Landry Parish Crime Stoppers at (337) 948-TIPS (8477).
