Today search parties hit the streets of Breaux Bridge looking for any sign of 30 year old Casey John. She was last seen five days ago at her father's house with her boyfriend. Her family said she is schizophrenic and has been without her medicine since she went missing.
Casey's sister Aisha John said she believes Casey's boyfriend had something to do with her disappearance. Aisha explained he can't tell her where her sister was last. Breaux Bridge Police continue to question him in this ongoing investigation.
Thursday Aisha reached out to the community and police asking for help.
Hundreds searched by foot and four wheeler for Casey.
Casey's friend, Kerry Bergeron, said , "I'm sad. I can't sleep at night. I just want to find her."
Aisha said almost twenty people on four wheelers came out around nine Thursday morning to help in the search lead by Breaux Bridge Police.
Casey's grandmother's house on Ninth Street has been set up as home base as search parties come and go.
"We are searching everywhere that we can to see if we can find out anything," she said. "Family members are walking the streets. We are just trying to find anything we can."
Breaux Bridge Police are asking anyone with property in the area to search for signs of Casey, checking things like old sheds and barns.
Casey's Friend, Jandi Potier, said, "we just went through woods and looked through ponds, trash cans and old abandoned houses, anywhere we thought she may be."
After hours of searching, there was still no sign of Casey. Aisha said it's doesn't discourage her.
"We are not stopping, every now and then we take breaks in between but there are more people going out," she said. "We are not going to stop. We have flashlights tonight, nothing is going to stop us until we find my sister."
Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact police, saying even the smallest things could lead to Casey. The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office is now assisting in this search.
