ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) - The Rapides Parish School Board paid more than $20,000 last year for the private firm it hired to aid its search for a permanent superintendent of schools.
The board entered into a contract with McPherson & Jacobson LLC in August to advertise for the position, conduct public forums and accept and vet applicants for Rapides superintendent.
Screening applicants will come at a higher cost -- $2,500 for the first five applicants, $2,000 for the next five applicants and $300 for each additional applicant.
These applicants will be in addition to the 17 that remain in the running for the position.
Total cost of the contract could come to $6,800 for 11 additional applicants.
The board is expected to name a new superintendent on April 9.
