CHALMETTE, La. (AP) - One of two members who have been targeted for removal from a Louisiana flood board gave a brief farewell speech as the board opened a meeting in Chalmette.
Historian John Barry said Thursday's meeting of the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East was likely his last.
Gov. Bobby Jindal's coastal protection chief said last week that the governor will not re-appoint Barry or board president Tim Doody because the board is pressing a lawsuit against oil and gas companies over coastal wetland damage.
The board was to discuss the lawsuit later Thursday.
