Scott Police: Stolen gun found following traffic stop

Two Lafayette Parish men are facing numerous charges after Scott Police say they took off after police tried to pull them over. Just after 4:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon, police say they tried to pull over a driver who didn't stop at the intersection of Mills and Willow Street. The driver, Raheem Syon, and the passenger, Letravein Chevalier, allegedly pulled into a private driveway and took off running.

The men were caught, and police say they found a stolen handgun out of Iberia Parish.

Chevalier was charged with: Resisting an Officer, Possession of a Schedule I Narcotic, Possession of a Firearm while in Illegal Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms

Syon was charged with Stop Sign violation, Driver's License Suspended, Failure to Register Vehicle, Misuse of Temporary Plates, Resisting an Officer
