The Schools of Choice held its lottery last night (February 23, 2010) and some openings still remain.
All slots at this time will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. The application process will reopen at midnight on March 1st. For those families who are interested, visit www.lafayettechoice.com.
For those students who did not complete the application process, your applications were not place in the lottery, however, you do not have to start all over. Instead, you should call the academy to which you applied to so that the process can be completed.
You will be awarded slots on a first-come, first-served basis (i.e. as an application is completed, that student will be awarded the next available slot or placed on the waiting list).
Also, there are openings in the following programs in some cases only one or two slots are available, so parents should complete a previous application, or apply as soon as possible, if they are interested.
Engineering Academy at Northside High (9th and 10th )
Academy of Information Technology (9th)
Academy of Business and Finance (9th and 10th)
Academy of Visual and Applied Arts (9th - 12th grades)
Performing Arts Academy (Lafayette High) - piano, guitar, theatre, chorus and band (9th -12th grades)
Environmental Sciences at Lafayette Middle (6th-8th grades)
Arts Academy (LJ Alleman) - guitar, piano (6th-8th grades
Chinese and French immersion at Alice Boucher (K only)
Families who are interested in a program are encouraged to apply even if there are no openings at this time. The waiting list is in constant flux between now and the first of school.
Now that the lottery is over, the results are being processed and printed letters are being sent by mail to those who applied so that applicants will be aware to if they are accepted or if they are on a waiting list.
