LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - The Lafayette Parish School System has denied any wrongdoing or negligence in the March bus accident that ended in a 6-year-old boy being dragged to his death.
The school system and bus driver, through their attorney Dawn Morris, last week filed responses to two wrongful death lawsuits filed by the parents of La'Derion Miller. Morris also asked that the two suits be consolidated and dismissed.
Miller, a Milton Elementary School student, died from head injuries on March 14. He was waiting with a young relative who safely boarded the bus. The lawsuits and sheriff's deputies say Miller attempted to enter, the bus door closed, his jacket became caught in the door and he was dragged down a rural road.
