School Bus Struck by Car on Johnston Street

A school bus was struck this morning shortly after dropping off its final load of students. The accident took place around 8:30 at the corner of Johnston Street and Westmark Boulevard. Bill Samec, the Lafayette Parish School Board Director of Transportation, the driver had just left Edgar Martin Middle School. Samec says another car ran a red light and slammed into the bus. The driver was taken to a local hospital for observation.
