School Bus Accident in Lafayette

There 15 kids on the bus coming from Lafayette High School.  Half were released to their parents; the other half were taken home by another bus.  William Samec with the Lafayette Parish School Board says the other driver was cited, not the school bus driver.

Update: Witnesses tell us the bus was full of teenage high school students when it collided with a van crossing Johnston Street at Bertrand. It is unclear who was at fault at this time. Witnesses at the scene say no kids were injured. Four vehicles were involved in the crash.

Lafayette Police are investigating a school bus accident at the corner of Johnston Street and South College Road in Lafayette. The bus headed south on South College collided with a white van. The bus was carrying Lafayette High School students. None of the students was injured. Another school bus was dispatched to pick up the students and take them home.

KATC has a crew on scene... we'll have more as it becomes available.
