Scattered Storms This Weekend

A very weak area of low pressure over Southwestern Louisiana will keep a better than normal chance of scattered mainly daytime showers and storms across Acadiana this weekend.

The low will continue to weaken as it slowly drifts southward across the area through Sunday keeping rain chances in the 50% range during the day.

The risk of showers will be lower at night but activity should be more "widely scattered" to isolated in nature.

Heading into next week, moisture levels will drop closer to where they should be for August with shower/storm coverage getting closer to 20-30% after Monday.

Look for daytime highs to be mostly in the 80s this weekend thanks to the clouds and showers, but it will stay quite humid. Overnight lows will generally be in the mid-70s.

Highs next week should climb into the lower 90s with heat indices approaching 100 before a few cooling afternoon showers and/or storms develop.

In the tropics, Tropical Storm Bertha is expected to remain a tropical storm as it travels west-northwestward through the Caribbean this weekend with a turn to the north thereafter.

Bertha poses no threat to the Gulf of Mexico.
