Sara Bourgeois Duplechain has announced her candidacy for the district G seat on the Vermilion Parish School Board.
A lifelong resident of Vermilion Parish, Duplechain is the daughter of Carla and Perry Bourgeois (Justice of the Peace for 24 years). Duplechain is also the granddaughter of Agnes Bares Richard, one of the founding members of the first LeBlanc Elementary and longtime educator at both LeBlanc and Erath Elementary schools.
"It's time for new leadership in District G, and I'd like to let the residents of this district know that I represent change," Bourgeois Duplechain said.
"I will bring the kind of energy, progressive thinking and a mother's intuition needed to move this school
system forward to a secure and brighter future for our children."
As a mother of two, Sara Bourgeois Duplechain is deeply concerned about the direction the Vermilion Parish school board has taken but more importantly the future
of her and our children.
"We need people on the school board that have a vested
interest in the welfare of our children - not career politicians looking for a check or
Sara and her husband of 14 years, Kane, live in Erath, and are raising their two children, Shea, a freshman at Erath High School, and Kiah, an 8th grader at Erath Middle School. Both are active members in the community.
Bourgeois Duplechain has been passionately involved with Junior Auxiliary of Abbeville and has been a volunteer with the Vermilion Parish School Board for over 10 years. They are also members of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Duplechain says she graduated from Erath High School in 1996 and studied Elementary Education at UL Lafayette and Graphic Design at McNeese State University. Sara is the Louisiana Brand Manager for L'ANZA Healing Haircare.
"Over the next few weeks, I will be walking door to door to share my ideas about the future of our school system in Vermilion Parish. I'm confident that 'together' we will build a brighter future for our children and generations to come. I humbly ask for your vote and support on Tuesday, November 4th," said Duplechain.
