Soon you'll hear that familiar ringing of the bell. The Salvation Army's red kettle campaign kicks off this week.
The Salvation Army is ringing in the holiday season with their red kettles and this year, they're putting out twice as many. They're also quadrupling their angel trees, which people can use to see what gifts a certain child in need wants, and buy those gifts to put under their tree.
Monday the Salvation Army, Lafayette's Parish President and other groups involved will kick off the red kettle campaign, promising to respond to the great need this year.
Kettles are in almost every Wal-mart door in Acadiana. And together Wal-marts in Louisiana and surrounding states are donating more than a million dollars.
The salvation army helped more than 30 million people last year.
