BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - State Commissioner of Higher Education
Sally Clausen has apologized to the Louisiana Board of Regents for
the way she secretly handled her retirement and rehiring a year
ago.
Although she is cutting her pay roughly in half in July, her
one-day retirement last summer gave her an extra nearly $90,000
lump payment in accrued vacation and sick leave time.
Clausen said she didn't realize she was going to receive all her
vacation and sick leave time.
Although a few board members publicly offered their support for
Clausen, Regents Chairman Artis Terrell said more will be discussed
next week at a personnel committee meeting.
