Saints players promote home rebuild

Players from the New Orleans Saints are lending a hand in the rebuilding effort of the city. On Tuesday, December 13th, New Orleans Saints players Roman Harper, Jahri Evans, Malcolm Jenkins, Lance Moore and former teammate Darren Sharper will all go into the communIty rebuilding homes they have funded for families still displaced by Hurricane Katrina through United Way's NO Place Like Home initiative, "Hope for the Holidays".

Earlier this season, Harper, Evans, Jenkins, Moore and Sharper along with the United Way of Southeast Louisiana helped three families whose homes were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. They also announced that they would be rebuilding their homes in time for the holiday season. Organization like Hope for the Holidays rebuild partners, Phoenix of New Orleans, and the St. Bernard Project all pitched in to help complete homes in the program. Tuesday, they will be meeting with other families and taking part in the rebuilding process.

The players are encouraging their teammates, coaches, friends, family, local businesses and community leaders to join them in giving back by taking part in the Hope for the Holidays campaign. The players are hosting a Gala, sponsored by Black Elk Energy, this Friday December 16th at The Westin Hotel. The Gala is their way to fund and bring awareness for the Hope for the Holidays rebuild mission.

For more information or to purchase tickets go to www.unitedwaysela.org/hope/index.html. They also encourage their fans to get involved by donating $10 to the campaign by texting HOME to UNITED* (864833*).
