Saints Kicker Buys Home of Disgraced RR Official

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Saints placekicker Garrett Hartley has purchased a new home for $1.1 million - a mansion in the English Turn area that was sold by Jim Bridger, the disgraced former general manager of the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad.

The sale went through not long after Bridger pleaded guilty in September to federal charges of misusing a credit card and to state theft and malfeasance charges. He is to be sentenced in January.

Hartley's agent, Erik Burkhardt, said Hartley's purchase reflects his newfound financial security and his desire to remain in New Orleans for the long haul. Hartley, who kicked the field goal that put the Saints into the Super Bowl, signed a five-year deal with the team in March. He is currently on injured reserve.
