LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - A $25 SafeLight Lafayette penalty will be imposed when drivers turn right at a red light without coming to a complete stop.
The City-Parish Council on Tuesday agreed to lower the penalty, which is $125 for drivers who run through a red light at intersections equipped with cameras.
City-Parish President Joey Durel had originally proposed eliminating that action as a SafeLight violation, but later said he did not think it should be completely exempt and proposed a $50
fine.
The council went with the lower fine proposed by Councilman Sam Dore.
