LAFAYETTE, LA-Woman's Foundation, Inc. and Women's & Children's Hospital are jointly sponsoring babysitter training classes during Spring Break.
The Safe Sitter two-day course for 11-13 year olds will be offered on Thursday & Friday, April 28 & 29 from 9:00am - 4:00pm at the Woman's Foundation classroom.
The courses prepare girls and boys to become safe and effective babysitters and will learn: what to do when a child chokes; safety for the sitter; what to do in an emergency; how to set up a babysitting business; how to screen job requests; how to manage problem behavior; how to prevent injuries; how to manage injuries; and how to entertain children of different ages.
All information is medically accurate and is taught by trained Safe Sitter instructors. During the course, students get hands-on practice in basic lifesaving techniques so they are prepared to act in a crisis. To successfully complete the Safe Sitter program, participants have to pass a rigorous practical and written test to show that they have mastered the key concepts and have the skills necessary to handle an emergency.
