Sacred Heart Students Serve the Community

The Academy 8th grade Religion class under Mrs. Joubert visited St. Joseph's Diner in Lafayette. It was their first direct service day. They served food, collected and washed dishes and cleaned up the dining hall. They got to eat lunch there also. It was a great Goal 3 opportunity and fun was had by all. Goal 3 states that Sacred Heart Schools commit themselves to a social awareness which impels to action.

The St. Joseph Diner is a division of the Diocese of Lafayette's Catholic Service Center. St. Joseph Diner prepares and serves free breakfast, lunch and dinner, 365 days a year to anyone who is hungry. The Diner also delivers weekday noon meals to the homebound. St. Joseph Diner's low income Senior Pantry provides bread and assorted baked goods on a weekly basis; supplemental food boxes monthly; and holiday baskets during Thanksgiving. They also have a vegetable and fruit garden all of which is open to volunteers who wish to help the needy in our community.
