FARMERVILLE, La. (AP) Union Parish Schools Superintendent Steve Dozier says he's confident the school system will win its lawsuit against a charter school and the state education department.
He spent Wednesday in state court in Baton Rouge, where Judge Todd Hernandez said he will rule quickly.
Union Parish says the charter for D'Arbonne Woods Charter School is invalid. It wants Hernandez to stop the state from withholding local money from Union Parish schools to pay for the charter.
Dozier said he is not optimistic that the district will get back money withheld by the state during the current school year.
BESE and state Superintendent Paul Pastorek also are defendants.
