THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - Rouses Markets is moving into the Alabama market with the acquisition of six stores near the coast.
The Thibodaux-based company already operates 38 stores in Louisiana and Mississippi.
The Daily Comet reports the newly acquired stores are in Mobile, Gulf Shores, Spanish Fort, Saraland and Theodore.
The stores were formerly owned by Belle Foods and were sold at a bankruptcy auction last week.
The company says the stores will undergo remodeling before opening under the Rouses brand.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
