HANOVER, N.H. (AP) - Former Louisiana Gov. Buddy Roemer is kicking off his longshot presidential campaign in New Hampshire, where he is taking up temporary residence in advance of the state's first-in-the-nation primary.
Roemer planned to announce his candidacy Thursday at Dartmouth College.
A Democrat-turned-Republican, Roemer served as Louisiana governor from 1988 and 1992. In Bedford Wednesday, he told a group of business leaders that he accepts the fact that no one knows who he is and argued that America needs a new kind of leader.
