Rob Kirkpatrick is originally from Mandeville, Louisiana just North of New Orleans. He is a Web Content Producer and Web Reporter at KATC.com, the homepage for Acadiana's Newschannel in Lafayette. You can see him on the weekly editions of Around Acadiana.

Rob is a Graduate of the Department of Communication at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. His interest in broadcasting began in High School at Fontainebleau High School in Mandeville, where he made his mark Anchoring and Reporting for the daily broadcast "The Bulldog Bulletin". While still in high school, a seat belt and safe driving campaign titled, "Buckle Up Bulldogs!" earned Rob the 2005 Lions Club International Youth Public Service Award.

Later on that year, Rob was lucky enough to get an internship at Channel 13, a TV station operated by the St. Tammany Parish Public School System. There, he got a chance to write and produce stories highlighting the quality education St. Tammany Parish had to offer. One of the most notable stories he produced while at Channel 13 was a spotlight on the 'Kennel Krazies', a cheer group for the Fontainebleau Bulldogs Boys Basketball Team. His favorite part was seeing such a large part of a student population come together for one cause.

With a move to Lafayette for college, came a new job in a different area of broadcasting...Radio. He worked for KSMB-FM beginning in 2006, handing out CDs at car dealerships. He recalls that, "everyone must start from the bottom and work their way up in this business". He made the move to mornings in October 2006, producing and co-hosting the morning show. The morning radio experience lasted just over a year. That's when television news called him back.

In addition to working for KATC, Rob has also worked with Cerebral Palsy of Louisiana and Special Olympics of Louisiana.

Rob has lived in or near two of the most culturally rich cities of New Orleans and San Antonio, Texas. He is proud to call South Louisiana home and enjoys spending time at as many festivals as possible. He loves to experience all a city has to offer and looks forward to a career of travel around the world.
