River commission plans Mississippi inspection trip

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The Mississippi River Commission, a panel overseeing Army Corps of Engineers operations on the Mississippi River, plans to makes its annual low-water inspection trip this week.
The commission's trip runs between Aug. 15 and Aug. 19. The commission will hold meetings in Missouri and Tennessee before arriving in Louisiana on Aug. 17 where it will hold a meeting in Lake Providence, La. On Aug. 19, it will hold a meeting in Berwick, La.
The meeting in Lake Providence will take place at 9 a.m. at the Lake Providence Port and the one in Berwick will be at 9 a.m. at the Berwick Wharf.
The commission travels on the motor vessel Mississippi and invites the public onboard for its meetings. Officials will provide reports and updates on the Mississippi.
