INDEPENDENCE, La. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the crash
of a tractor-trailer rig with a freight train near the southeastern
Louisiana town of Independence.
Tangipahoa Parish sheriff's investigators say that after the rig
left a construction plant Wednesday, the driver failed to yield at
an ungoverned railroad crossing. The rig apparently was carrying
asphalt.
The sheriff's office says the truck driver, who was not
identified publicly, sustained moderate injuries and was taken to a
hospital for treatment.
There were no other injuries reported.
