A federal judge has denied suspended St. Landry Parish School Board member Quincy Richard's motion for acquittal.
In his ruling, Judge Richard Haik said that there was enough evidence presented during the trial to sustain the jury's guilty verdict.
Richard was convicted in federal court in August of trying to sell his vote to a superintendent candidate. Another board member implicated in the case, John Miller, pleaded guilty to his role in the scheme.
Miller's sentencing hearing is scheduled for November 19 at 1:30 P. M. No sentencing hearing has been set for Richard.
