Pitkin has a new pavilion for farmers who want to sell locally grown produce and for other community activities.
The Leesville Daily Leader reports that the Vernon Parish Tourism Commission had it built for the Myths and Legends Byway, a scenic trail that includes highways in Vernon, Allen, and Beauregard parishes.
The commission has scheduled a ribbon-cutting for the Pitkin Market Pavilion at 11 a.m. Saturday.
It's behind the Pitkin Water System Inc. and Gas Utility District (hash)1 Office at 12863 Louisiana Highway 10.
For information about the ceremony contact the commission's events coordinator, Jordan Craft, at (337) 238-0783, or jcraft(at)bellsouth.net.
For information about using the pavilion, call the Pitkin Water System and Gas Utility Office at (318) 358-5426.
