NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The Pro Bono Publico Foundation has awarded 36 grants totaling $545,000, primarily to benefit public schools in New Orleans.
Other grants include the Taylor Playground Booster Club to help rebuild sports and other programs at Taylor Playground, and a number of neighborhood initiatives.
The foundation was formed in 2006 by members of the Krewe of Rex, one of the city's premier Carnival clubs, to help support the recovery of the city after Katrina. Over the past four years, the foundation has funded grants totaling over $1.2 million.
