Reward in missing teacher case increased

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Crimestoppers say the reward for information about the whereabouts of missing second-grade teacher Terrilyn Monette has increased to $19,600.

The 26-year-old Monette was last seen March 2 about 5 a.m. leaving bar in the Lakeview section of New Orleans. The second-grade Jefferson Parish teacher, who moved to New Orleans in 2011, told friends at the bar that she planned to sleep in her car for a while before driving home because she had been drinking.

Crimestoppers Executive Director Darlene Cusanza told The Times-Picayune the increased total nearly triples the reward, which reached $5,500 over the weekend. Cusanza says anonymous donors and community efforts resulted in the new total.

Citizens with information about Monette can call Crimestoppers at 504-821-1111.
