Revenue, labor departments have computer glitches

Two Louisiana state agencies have had computer issues that caused tax headaches for residents and businesses.
The Department of Revenue sent erroneous notices to taxpayers notifying them of problems with their 2009 state tax returns. Revenue spokesman Doug Baker says about 2,300 taxpayers got the notice in error.
Meanwhile, some businesses have had trouble paying their quarterly state unemployment taxes electronically at the state labor department, called the Louisiana Workforce Commission.
Labor spokesman Tom Guarisco says the computer system is again functioning properly, after a sudden influx of people who regularly filed paper reports overloaded an electronic system that all businesses must begin using by 2014.
Baker and Guarisco say the agencies are working with the taxpayers to resolve problems they have encountered.
