Rev. Ronald James Breaux Dies at 69

Rev. Ronald James Breaux, 69, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at his residence in Lafayette, LA, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 10:00 AM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille on
St. Landry Street , Downtown Lafayette.

Ronald was the devoted husband of Mary (Jean) Gautreaux Breaux, to whom he was married for 48 years. He was a graduate of Lafayette High School and completed his Doctor of Divinity in Theology.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norris Dale Breaux Sr. and Edith Barras Breaux; and one brother Norris "Dale" Breaux Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Mary "Jean" Gautreaux Breaux, and their four children, Carl Breaux, Jeffery and his wife Christie Guidry Breaux of Lafayette, Jenifer and her husband Michael Werfel of Dallas, TX, and Michelle and her husband Philip Broussard of Church Point. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, Christine Trahan and her husband John, Angelle Breaux, Shelby Breaux, Samantha Breaux, Beau Breaux, Alyssia Breaux, Jeffery Breaux II, Joli Breaux, Gabriel Breaux, Claudia Breaux, Tiffany Barker, Valerie Werfel, Rachael Werfel, Thomas Werfel, Ryan Breaux and his wife Amanda, Kelly Lara and her husband Nicholas, Stacie Broussard and Sarah Breaux; and three great grandchildren, Jaih Lara, Mystery Trahan and Gabriel Trahan.

Apostle Ron Breaux was a pastor of many churches which include: Church of Acts in Alexandria, LA, Shiloh Christian Outreach in Marksville, LA, River of Life in Urbana, OH, Church in Ambler in Ambler, PA, and ActsChurch in Lafayette, LA.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He lived a very full and humorous life. He had a generous heart and was helpful to everyone. He touched many people's lives with his faith, love, compassion and wisdom. He visited people in the hospitals and prisons, fed the hungry, gave to the poor and counseled many, never turning anyone away. He was a spiritual father to many. He has shown, by example, how to be a man of God.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM and Wednesday from 8:00 AM until time of services. Rev. A.J. Norman, Pastor of North Blvd. Church in Alexandria, will conduct the funeral services and will sing "Yes Lord I Will Ride" and "I Can Only Imagine" for the services. Eulogist will be Rev. Richard McGovern.
