PINEVILLE, La. (AP) - Within a few months, people could be able to have a glass of beer or wine with their dinner at Pineville restaurants.
The Pineville City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to call an election that would loosen restrictions on alcohol sales in the city.
All such sales are currently banned in Pineville. Residents of the city will vote on whether to allow restaurants to serve alcohol.
The plan is to place the option on the Oct. 19 election ballot.
A push to revisit the alcohol issue started months ago when some noted developers told the council the ban was holding back economic development in the city.
