YAZOO CITY, Miss. (AP) An emergency official says a tornado that killed 10 people in Mississippi also left at least three dozen people injured and severely damaged nearly 200 homes.

Those figures were reported across four counties. The numbers don't include hard-hit Yazoo County, where Gov. Haley Barbour has said at least 100 homes were hit.

Mississippi Emergency Management Agency spokesman Greg Flynn said Sunday that those numbers also don't include Choctaw County, where officials were still trying to assess the situation. There, numerous buildings had been obliterated and many people were sifting through the wreckage of their homes.

Nearly 80 state National Guard soldiers have been dispatched to help with cleanup, along with 40 Highway Safety Patrol Officers.
