This week has been a great one for Saints fans, as we've been celebrating our beloved team making it to the Super Bowl for the first time in team history.
But some heavy-handed legal posturing by the NFL is threatening to put a damper on our celebration.
Over the past few weeks, the NFL has been sending cease and desist letters to local stores selling t-shirts and other local memorabilia that feature the famous words "WHO DAT."
The most amazing part? The NFL claims to own the phrase "WHO DAT."
No one owns "WHO DAT" except for Who Dat Nation. Sign my petition to the NFL right now - tell them to leave our fans alone!
For all of us long-time Saints fans, it's doubly frustrating to see the NFL swoop in just as soon as our team breaks out into the national spotlight.
This year has been special precisely because of how much passion Saints fans have shown for our team. We've been there since the beginning, and no one's going to tell us to get off one stop away from the end.
For all the Saints fans across Louisiana, let's make clear who the real owners of "WHO DAT" are.
Sign my petition to the NFL now - tell them that "WHO DAT" belongs to Who Dat Nation!
We'll go back to working on political issues in the days to come. But for now, I hope we can come together to protect "WHO DAT" from anyone who would claim to own it - aside from all of us of course!
Thanks for your help - and go Saints. WHO DAT!
