HARRISONBURG, La. (AP) - Catahoula Parish Sheriff James Kelly said while the investigation into the death of a young girl whose remains were found earlier this month by two hunters has progressed, the remains have yet to be identified.
Kelly tells The News-Star that deputies have been working with the National Center for Missing or Exploited Children to determine the identity of the remains.
Kelly says the remains are that of a young, white female, between the ages of 12 and 16. He said she was less than 5 feet, 4 inches tall, with long, thick brown hair.
Kelly says the remains appeared to have been in the location where they were found north of Harrisonburg between three weeks and six months.
