Registration underway for Acting Up In Acadiana

Aspiring actors may now register for acting classes at a local theatre company.

Acting Up (in Acadiana), the resident professional theatre company at the Acadiana Center for the Arts, is announcing that registration is underway for their 2014-2015 acting classes. Classes for students ages 7-to-adult begin the week of September 15 at the Acadiana Center for the Arts. Registrations are now being taken and will be accepted through the end of September.

All students--regardless of future work--can have fun while gaining confidence in public speaking, practicing focus and concentration, engaging in collaborative teamwork, and nurturing the imagination and creativity.

This year students will have the opportunity to perform with the professional company in their multi-generational original piece, "Die Happy: Life's Serious Business So Let's Laugh in its Friggin' Face".

The following classes are offered:

Elementary School - Tuesdays from 4:30-5:30 p.m.
Middle School - Mondays from 4:30-6 p.m.
High School/Beginner Adult - Tuesdays 6-7:30 p.m.
Company Class - Mondays from 6:15-7:45 p.m.

Participation in continued company training is my audition and interview or invitation.

The registration fee is $85 and classes are $65 a month. Sibling discounts are available.

As Artistic Director, Amy Waguespack facilitates the classes and members of the professional company teach. We are a training based program with a focus on technique and ensemble building. Waguespack, company members and former students have worked in theatre, film, television, and commercials in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, New Orleans and more.

For information on registration contact or call (337) 739-4273.
