Red River floating body identified

NEW ROADS, La. (AP) - Pointe Coupee Parish sheriff's deputies have identified the woman whose nude body was found floating Sunday in the Red River near its intersection with Old River.
Capt. Brett Robillard identified the woman as 54-year-old Cynthia Cox of Natchitoches.
Robillard told The Advocate the identification was made Tuesday through fingerprints taken from the woman at a Lafayette forensics lab.
Deputies say an autopsy on Monday was inconclusive in determining the cause of death.
Robillard said Natchitoches police recently discovered the woman's car parked beside the river.
He says the investigation was turned over to Natchitoches authorities.
