Lafayette officials say recycling collection will not be interrupted by Saturday's fire at the Recycling Foundation. Steven Cheatham, the Recycling Foundation's division manager, says curbside service will run as usual. He adds that the Recycling Foundation and Lafayette Consolidated Government are working to find a suitable location for drop-off recycling service. A decision about that site Cheatham says, is expected to be made by early next week.

The two-alarm fire at the 107 I-G Lane facility is still under investigation. Cheatham says he believes 100 one-ton bales of cardboard and other recyclables fueled the fire. According to Cheatham, the site's processing equipment and 30,000-square-foot building are a total lost.
