Recycling begins at Washington Parish landfill

BOGALUSA, La. (AP) - A new recycling operation has opened at the Choctaw Road Landfill in Washington Parish.

Parish residents can drop off plastics, paper and metal cans free of charge.

Acceptable plastics include water and soft drink bottles, peanut butter and jelly bottles, milk jugs, garbage bags, water pipe and more.

Donors are asked to be sure containers are free of food and labels. All items must be separated by type before drop-off.

Recycling hours at the landfill are 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
