No doubt there are a lot of tickets and hotel rooms already being reserved for the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl in less than a month. And you can't forget anticipation of the official bowl game gear, soon to be hitting store shelves.
Just two days after the big announcement, thousands of people have already filled out the form to reserve tickets to the New Orleans Bowl. It all made for a hectic day at the Cajundome Ticket Office.
Matthew Casbon, UL Ticket Manager
"Here at the box office it's all hands on deck from now until the end of the bowl game," said UL Ticket Manager Matthew Casbon. "With us making the official announcement Saturday we have seen a tremendous amount of reservations being made today (monday) and we are well into the thousands."
Last year the Ragin Cajuns drew more than18,000 people to the New Orleans Bowl. And this year, the university predicts it will be bigger and better. But to make sure UL gets the credit for all of those fans flooding the French Quarter, the university is asking fans to buy their tickets through UL.
"What I mean by credit is, we get acknowledged by the Bowls as having a large number of fans that will come to the game, and Bowls look to see that fans come to the games," explained UL Athletics Assistant Marketing Director, Eric Maron.
Tickets aren't the only hot item this week.
"But our phone calls starting early this morning, what do you have, when are you going to have it, what's it look like, what color's it's going to be, so everybody's excited about that and we can't wait to have it in so everybody can see it," said David Faulk, owner of Louisiana Hot Stuff.
Faulk said he can't wait to get the official New Orleans Bowl gear in by the end of the week.
"So we're really excited about that, got some great graphics, I know we're going to probably have three or four different designs that are celebrating the Cajuns being in the New Orleans Bowl. So we're really looking forward to that coming in," he said.
You can fill out the order form to reserve your tickets at www.ragincajuns.com or go directly to the Cajundome Ticket Office. After filling out the form, mail it in to the Cajundome or drop it off directly at the office.
UL said not only will ordering your tickets through them give Ragin Cajuns the credit, but also ensure fans get the best seats at the game. UL should get the first allotment of tickets by the end of the week. A price has not been set yet, but last year tickets cost $42 and $62. UL estimates ticket prices will be similar this year.
