Rayne Police say the man that led officers on a high-speed chase was first caught for speeding in a residential area. Police say when they stopped 43-year-old Craig Boudreaux of Carencro around 12:45 p.m. Friday for speeding, Boudreaux was unable to produce any identification and displayed signs of extreme stress and nervousness. Officers say Boudreaux was suspected to be a possible fugitive or narcotics trafficker because of his unusual behavior and responses to questioning. Police say during the questioning, Boudreaux re-entered his vehicle and fled the area at a high rate of speed. Officers say they took off after Boudreaux into Lafayette, where Lafayette Police helped with the pursuit. Investigators say Boudreaux then disobeyed the traffic light at Ambassador Caffery and West Congress Street and struck multiple other vehicles. Boudreaux was arrested on felony charges and multiple traffic violations. Additional charges may be pending after the investigation is completed.
