Rayne Police Chief Carroll Stelly will try to seize a trailer located at 208 Melanie Street after arresting two people who are known by Rayne Police as habitual offenders.
According to a press release from the Rayne Police Department, officers executed a search warrant at the Melanie Street residence on Thursday, finding more than five grams of crack-cocaine broken down for resale in 80 individual doses and approximately 80 grams of marijuana, some of which was packaged for sale.
Police arrested Danielle Hanks, 40, and Layton Hamilton, 30, for possession with intent to distribute cocaine base and possession with intent to distribute marijuana
"We have actively been investigating this location as habitual offenders," Stelly said in the release. "I intend to seek civil action for forfeiture of the residence under Louisiana's drug and asset forfeiture statutes. This location has been an ongoing problem."
Hanks and Hamilton were booked into the Acadia Parish Jail on $40,000 bonds.
