The Rayne Police Department and the U.S. Marshal's Service arrested a 23-year-old attempted murder suspect Friday around 1 p.m in Crowley.
Lamar Malbrough has been sought after since June 30, 2014, when an investigation of attempted murder began. Malbrough allegedly attempted an armed robbery of two men, during which one of the offenders discharged a firearm into the victim's occupied vehicle. Officers were able to identify Lamar Malbrough and Bryan Bellard as suspects early in the investigation. Officers obtained arrest warrants on both suspects for Attempted Armed Robbery (2 Counts) and Attempted First Degree Murder (2 Counts).
Chief Stelly stated that the arrest was the result of a tip received by Crime Stoppers of Acadia Parish, which provided investigators with the time and location of an upcoming appointment where the suspect would be present.
Malbrough was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail with a $250,000 bond set by Commissioner Thomas Frederick.
Chief Stelly stated "I would like to thank the U.S. Marshal's Violent Offender Task Force, which has proved to be an incredible resource for local departments pursuing felons who flee the jurisdiction of the original crime. Their hard work and dedication is greatly appreciated."
The Rayne Police Department would like to remind everyone that Crime Stoppers of Acadia Parish will pay a reward, up to $1,000, for information that assist law enforcement with solving a crime.
