Rayne man wanted for simple kidnapping

A Rayne man attending court is being investigated by Crowley Police for a simple kidnapping incident that occurred shortly after noon on Thursday.

According to police, Layton Hamilton, 28, of Rayne, was attending court when he fled from the parish courthouse. Once he exited the building, Hamilton ran one block south of the building and entered a vehicle occupied by a man and a woman. Police say Hamilton demanded the driver flee the area. After driving several blocks, the suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Hamilton has not been located.

Police believe Hamilton was facing possible jail time, thus the belief for his fleeing the court.

Hamilton is wanted for simple kidnapping. He is 5'2" in height, weighing 120 pounds. His last Known address is 810 East Jeff Davis Dr in Rayne.
