CROWLEY, La. (AP) - A grand jury has indicted a 35-year-old Rayne man on an attempted first-degree murder charge and ruled that officers were justified in shooting him.
The Feb. 10 shooting left Anthony Campbell with a gunshot wound to the head.
The shooting involved both Rayne police officers and Acadia Parish sheriff's deputies. Authorities say Campbell was shot after allegedly striking a deputy with his vehicle while trying to flee
from authorities who had arrived to execute a search warrant at his home.
State police investigated the shooting.
Campbell's attorney has said his client denies the allegations.
