The Rapides Parish School Board is likely to approve its $186.9 million general fund budget next month.
That's an increase of about $4.7 million, or 2.6 percent, from the previous fiscal year's general fund budget and more than $10.7 million, or 6.1 percent, from the 2011-12 budget.
The general fund has seen an increase each of the last five years except in 2010-11, which dropped about $500,000 from the previous year.
The board held its first of two public hearings on the proposed budget for fiscal 2013-14 last week. But there was no public comment after Director of Finance Liz Domite gave a detailed presentation on the proposal during the board's Finance Committee meeting.
The public will get another chance at the full board meeting Tuesday.
