ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) - A Rapides Parish man has been charged with attempted first-degree murder after being accused of shooting a juvenile near his property.
Authorities say Milton McGuire told sheriff's deputies he had been having a problem with prowlers. Assistant Chief Herman Walters says that McGuire saw two people in his yard shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday, but they were gone by the time he walked outside.
Walters says McGuire allegedly climbed to his roof and fired his gun. Walters says a 14-year-old boy was wounded, but not seriously.
The juveniles told authorities they were walking along the road.
A dispatcher at the jail on Sunday said she didn't know if McGuire had an attorney.
