A man serving time for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle -- who then stole a truck while serving on a work detail Monday -- is back in custody today.
At approximately 3 p.m. Tuesday, Rapides Parish deputies say officers with the Natchitoches Police Department found a suspicious truck on a dead-end road during routine patrol. Officers say when they talked to the driver, he admitted he was Randy Girod, the walk-off from Rapides Parish.
Police say Girod was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Natchitoches Police Department and is awaiting transport back to Rapides Parish by Corrections Security deputies where he will be booked for Simple Escape and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
Corrections security investigators are still looking into whether or not Girod had any assistance in this walk off from a parish work crew.
