Within the next two years, the Rapides Parish Coliseum should be transformed into a first-class facility. If a search goes as planned, there will be a first-class professional running it.
The Coliseum's governing board approved forming a search committee at its meeting last week to find an executive director for the facility.
It was a first step in what authority members say will be an exhaustive process.
The Coliseum is set to undergo an extensive remodel and renovation, paid for through a property tax passed last year.
The $23 million project is designed to modernize the outdated entertainment venue on La. Highway 28 West so it can compete with newer arenas and attract events that currently bypass the Alexandria market.
